I was born in Huntington and my mother was attending Marshall when this tragic event occured. The plane crashed very near to where my aunt and uncle still live today. I may be biased in my review (for obvious reasons) but this film helped me understand the "politics" of that event so long ago. My aunt sent me news clippings while the filming was being done. I honestly didn't think that McConaughey could pull this thing off, especially after seeing his previous movie, Failure to Launch. I was wrong. His performance was awesome, just as with everyone else in that movie. The producers stuck to the facts and won the respect of my hometown. They did me proud!

This is a stroy that very well could have been focused on the tragedy that happened to this school instead of the rebuilding and the spirit of this town. It was done very tastefully with Mathew Fox and Anthony Mackie actually stealing the show from the other actors. This is a great story and any fan of football will enjoy it and any fan of stories of strength and rebirth will enjoy it even more.

As a Marshall grad, I found the movie very real. I had just graduated at the time of the crash, and I must say that watching the movie caused me to relive lots of unsettling memories; however, I found the portrayal of the story fairly accurate as I remember it. The downtown scenes were mostly as I remember them as well, and all those brought back pleasant memories from my days as a college student. The portrayal of the public figures that I remember were also on target - names that I hadn't thought about for years. Even though It was very sad for me to watch, I got caught up in the excitement and Herd sprit that was always so prevalent on campus, especially on game days. I still feel a great sense of pride and connection when I hear the chant, "We are. . . Marshall!"

This is a good movie about football and a great movie about relationships. An added bonus is that you can watch this movie with the whole family.

It was a very moving story - really touches your heart and the acting was great! I don't remember when this event took place but it was done very well. A must see movie.

Nicely done romanticized tribute about how an entire town recovers from the worst thing imaginable. Because of the strong localized impact of an event like this, the U.S. military learned this lesson long ago and stopped having units be formed of folks all from the same geographic area about 1885.
