If you've seen "Mostly Martha", this Americanized version proved to be quite disappointing. Zero chemistry between Zeta-Jones and Eckhart, who was woefully miscast in this role. Zeta-Jones lacked the quirkiness and intensity that the original actress portrayed, so for me this movie dragged on alot. Abigail Breslin did fine in her role. Perhaps if I had never seen the original, I would have liked this version a bit more........ I really, truly wanted to LOVE this movie!

2008.02.13 - It was just so-so. There was no chemistry between the main characters. There were no laughs. There were no tears. It wasn't a good movie; nor was it awful.

Contrary to what the previews of this movie want you to believe, this film is not a romantic comedy. It has all of the ingredients of a romantic comedy: the attractive leads, the cute kid, the teasing rivalries, but when you boil down the subject-matter, get through the long, silent, emotive looks from Miss Zeta-Jones, and count the number of times you actually laugh, you realize it is a drama. While the film is not a total bomb, it was hoping for something much lighter. Perhaps if you don't expect much from it, you'll enjoy it more than I did.

I was surprisingly pleased with this film. It was a great chick movie, but obviously predictable.

I cannot believe the impressive reviews of Blockbuster members. Both my wife and I found it painful to watch, and she generally likes such Lifetime/Hallmark channel-type chick flicks. The acting was stiff and lifeless and the script was as if someone wrote it in film school. The predictable plot moved so slow it was shocking to both of us, because it surprised us that Catherine Zeta Jones would have gone for such a bore. Eckhard's acting was cheezy and laughable. These actors were coached by real-life chefs, yet the kitchen scenes were unlike any restaurant I've worked in -- quiet, slow, and relatively lifeless. Eckhard laughably tried to act like he was gutting a fish from the top of the spine. This film reinforces Hollywood's reputation for being out of touch with the real world.

This was the worst excuse for a comedy I have come across in a long time.

This is a different type of movie than typical predictable comedy. Its funny, sad, and romantic all at the same time. Loved it--hope you will too......

I loved this movie. Was planning to just rent it, but my daughter was bored so took her to the theatre to see this one. It was worth the money. I was expecting just another "Baby Boom", but somehow, this was different. The acting was realistic. I felt you could relate to the characters. I am not an emotional person by nature, but this one did make me cry. Catherine Zeta Jones was great in this. Totally different than Chicago. I love Abigail Breslin, and Aaron Eckhart is a cutie!
