A brilliant and life affirming film! It's totally meaningful in every sense of the word...the actor Scott Mechlowicz is a find and an actor who's got it together..of course Nick Nolte is the best especially for this part and I believe he conducts his life according to the life affirmations of this movie and the real Millman..wonderful as this film affirms my way of living...5 stars!!!

The content of this movie is what is important. The message and what one gets out of it. The acting could be better for most of the actors. Nick Nolte is great as the restrained teacher Socrates.

When the student is ready, teacher will appear. You can really see from the diversity of reviews here who was ready and who wasn't when they watched this. This is great teaching movie for all ages. Besides being an entertaining sports movie, there is a great message here for eveyone who wants to succeed in sports or in life. If you've got sons or daughters who seem preoccupied with "what other people think" about them or who are excessively worried about the past events or what might happen in the future, make them watch this with you! If the movie leaves you wanting more, Millman has written several books which give you a more in depth view of his philosophy for happiness and success in life.

What an interesting movie. Almost ethereal in parts. Every adult and teenager (especially those in sports) should watch this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the lessons were profound for me. I thought it might begin to get "silly" in parts, but never did. Hollywood wouldnt like this movie.....therefore most of us would. I never was really able to meditate, but upon hearing "take out the trash"....suddenly it hit me. Almost instant meditation and focus. If that's all I come away with from this movie, then it was time well spent. Take out the trash.....

Charming movie-a tad too predictable. Nolte was as great as ever. Some good sentiments about life survival and success.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. This is about so much more than athletic trials and triumphs...it's a lesson for young and old, crossing age and economics...a true life lesson. I'd recommend it to ...

This movie is boring and is a kind of fantasy. It's a new age ideal of "whatever you set your mind to, you'll achieve." While the mind is important, logic is equally important. If the character was not a gifted gymnist to begin with, his mind would not matter at all. Nolte is unbelievable. Not that his acting was bad, but that the whole character has no believeability. On top of it all, it was painfully boring. Snore!
