This movie is about passion love trust wisdom and ultimately human rights. This is not a bible movie although the story of Esther is written in thebible. This is about ancient Persia and the glory of Achamenid dynasty that started with Cyrus who was the first king to establish freedom of religion and human rights. The official religion of the Persian Empire at the time was Zoroastrianism with the doctrine of Good Thoughts Good Words and Good Deeds. Cyrus had captured Babylon and freed the Jews and when Xerxes came to power after his father Darius he married Esther a beautiful Jewish peasant. King Xerxes was manipulated by an Evil Prince with a hidden agenda of killing all the Jews but ultimately Xerxes made the right decision to trust his wife Esther and appointed Esther's father as one of the Prince's of Persia. This movie is a classic with very good acting spectacular scenery and a powerful story with many twists and subplots with a great ending.

I made it through about 10 minutes. TIffany DuPont shows her acting licks in the first 2 minutes standing on a balcony. Pityful!

I had a hard time following the story. I sat with it for an hour. Ugh. Kept with it, hoping it would get better. Just got worse. I finally turned the movie off after 1 hour and 10 minutes. Could tell right where it was going and was just dumb. Boring. All the "conspiracy" was silly. The "king" rounding up all the maidens so he could replace his queen because she refused to attend his party and had one for herself. DU! Castrating the young males. Barbaric. The king falling 'in love" because she read to him for like 3 minutes. Stupid. I realize it was a biblical story, but the story was too shallow.

I loved this movie! It strayed from the story a bit, but it was still really good. It really stayed with me. I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed the costumes and the moral of the movie, but the Biblical text from Esther is a much more believable account of these events. You can't go wrong with the original word of God.

Why do all the actors talk like it is 2007 instead of over 2000 years ago? The writers need to do a bit more research into how people lived and acted back then. You know you are in trouble when one of the main actors is a former professional wrestler! It seems they spent a lot of time on the digital scenery and no time on the dialog or the acting. Too bad, because it is a good Christian story that could have been done so much better. The lead actress is just not very good at all. It is hard to get into a story when the lead character offers you no reason to care about her.
