Read More I was more than a little disappointed with this movie. Aside from John Rhys-Davies and John Noble (who I can't believe agreed to do this pic), the acting was atrocious. In all honesty you could get better performances from a high school drama club. Esther had an "on again - off again" accent throughout the film and most of the time looked as though she was reading lines directly from a cue card. Xerxes had NO likeability factor and I was rather amazed when it occurred to me that he and Esther were SUPPOSED to have some chemistry. Not only that, Xerxes' hair and make-up were a bit ridiculous. I missed half the movie from laughing so hard every time he was on screen. The bottom line is, about an hour into the movie, having given up all hope of it becoming somewhat watchable, I fast-forwarded through the rest just to see how it ended. The best part of the movie was when it was over! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It took some liberties but not to the point that it changed the facts told in the Bible. The acting may be a bit novice but the theme, passion, and scenery really round out this movie to be what it really is - excellent! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Also a few times we were left asking ourselves, Hugh? Whats going on? and what did he/she say? Many times this movie was confusing and the loud music of the movie would often drown out the actors when they were trying to speak. Overall, the producer of this film needs to go back to film school, while the writers get an A+ for storyline. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It made me wonder and I had to read the book right out of the bible to make sure I wasn't crazy. But I thought that DuPonts acting in the beginning was terribly weak but it looks like she learns a few things or two down the way. All the accents are all off, you couldn't tell who was persian, hebrew, greek or what have you. I liked it, I liked the love story in it and the drama. The King looks like my husband too which is weird... Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More The acting as well as the direction of the storyline killed this movie. Most of the time you can't go wrong with a biblical story, you have beautiful scenery, exotic locations, costumes, and drama. This film has everything but the bad acting kills the drama which in turn makes it a bad movie. This had the opportunity to be a great movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I absolutely love this movie....I was raised in a Christian home and I've heard this story many times, and yet I learned some things. The scenery was beautiful, and it was not hard to understand the story either. I have seen where some people have written reviews on how hard it was to understand. Yes, it may be to somone who never went to church or ever heard the story of Esther. Excellent, Marvelous movie and I can't wait to buy the movie to watch it again!!!!! 5 stars!!!! Read More The story is great, having real drama and import., but the people who made this movie had the sensibilities of the 1950's melodramatic epics. The music was constant and overpowering, the dialog was unreal and the sets were clunky. It felt Cecil B. DeMille had come back from the grave. A total disappointment.
