I was looking forward to this one for a long while being a big time zombie fan. Saw Bob Clark's "Deathdream" while waiting for Blockbuster to finally make this selection available (way, way late BTW). "Deathdream", though cheaply made, is far superior to this heavyhanded, bad Tales From The Crypt-esque episode.

of most of this series except those who like incredibly low brow, obvious and heavy handed political commentary mixed with the very low mediocre horror quality of this series may enjoy it. Just picture having to sit through an incredibly inept, mediocre and predictable horror flick of an aborted baby trying to get revenge on abortion clinics, doctors and various politicians with some really heavy handed and obvious political elements in it and youll get the point how lame mixing political propaganda and horror can be. It tends to be thought of as brilliant by those who are stridently political and agree with the obvious "message" though its about as obviously brilliant as drawing a mustache and glasses on a picture of a figure you dont like or sticking your tongue at them. For others who actually want to see good horror episodes with passable plots and acting, its another wasted episode.

So cheesy it's unreal. The dead are back, but don't worry, the just want to vote. Director's political views poorly disguised as a zombie movie. Don't waste your time.

The anti-war sentiment of this movie was a pathetic and cheap attack against Republicans. Clearly Joe Dante, and perhaps many Americans, has forgotten the tens-of-thousands of civilians the former Iraqi Dictator ordered to be slaughtered at his whim. This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I would have been more entertained had Dante just walked onto the Whitehouse lawn and kicked the President's dog.

Even knowing what to expect didn't prepare me for the shock, fun & sadness of HOMECOMING, Joe Dante's gift to the Masters of Horror series. For those who have no strong feeling regarding what we have wrought in Iraq, this film may appear just an over-the-top screed, using horror tropes to score political points. Yet it offers scenes of enormous resonance: The soldiers coming out of their coffins, covered (maybe bound) by our flag; the café scene with soldier, owner, wife & dog, and most particularly not just why the soldiers have returned, but what it takes to make them die. Some of the writing (by Sam Hamm, who gave us the underrated "Monkeybone") & performances border on breathtaking--nasty, funny, & utterly on-target--with Jon Tenney splendid as the conflicted "hero" & Thea Gill wickedly Coulter-esque as a libidinous blond "author." It may seem odd that the most relevant & incisive bit of modern political muckraking comes from a short horror film made for cable TV, but there it is.

Homecoming is a very entertaining and illuminating spin on the zombie genre. It is also an unrepentant political allegory. The director has a very specific point of view and if you don't agree with it you might have a hard time with this movie. However, those who feel that the current administration is taking America down the worst possible of paths will love this movie. K-Law

WOW! What BALLS this one has in the age of "King Bush"! If you are sick of the illegal war on terror, the Ann Coulters, Bill O'Reilly's, Karl Roves and Sean Hannity's of the world - and I aint even a liberal and I am saying this! - then this little ditty of dead soldiers coming back to life to voice their opinion is a must see! A pretty decent mix of horror mixed with political satire! I love this flicks' BALLS!
