Read More - Gore's credibility is damaged early in the film when he tells the audience that, by simply looking at Antarctic ice cores with the naked eye, one can see when the American Clean Air Act was passed. Dr. Ian Clark, professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa (U of O) responds, "This is pure fantasy (aka a lie) unless the reporter is able to detect parts per billion changes to chemicals in ice."
- global warming is an unproven, and not all scientist believe it is caused by humans.
- The planet actually cooled between 1940 and 1980, when human emissions of CO2 were rising at the fastest rate in our history. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I will travel now just so that I can tell my family in 10, 20, 50 years "it didn't used to be like this." I have always thought in the back of my mind that the earth was changing not because of global warming per say. I hadn't really been too interested in science and how it affected "my world" however; when I saw the previews for this documentary I was really drawn to it. I had to wait 2 months before it was available to me, but now I will make sure others know to watch it. Al Gore, not that I'm familiar with him or his politics, was a great host for this documentary. I don't care if you like Al Gore or not - WATCH THIS. This is the most important thing you will ever watch - pass it on to every one you know! Even the credits are interesting! It's time for a major change in our WORLD and only we can do it, and this will show us how. Learn from it. Live it! I highly recommend this. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Regardless of how you feel about Al Gore as a politician, this documentary is worth seeing because of the gravity of the issues discussed. Gore proves to be a worthy spokesman and his arguments are clear and concise at the beginning of the film.
The problem with the film is, ironically, too much of Al Gore himself. Less than halfway through I began to ask myself "Is this a documentary about global warming or about Al Gore?" Towards the end, Gore's examples become slightly disjointed as he tries to "throw too much into the bag" (ex: overpopulation). I blame this more on the editing of the film than on his live presentations (people have criticized the movie as being "about a slideshow", but seeing the film made me want to attend one of Mr. Gore's presentations in person!). Thankfully, "An Inconvenient Truth" ends on a positive note. That alone makes this documentary recommended viewing.

Not a documentary. Too much about Al Gore. Well, allow me to disagree. 1st, the US is the worlds largest producer of greenhouse gases, who's responsible for setting the standards industries follow? That's a political issue & we should be the ones setting an example. Second, this is NOT fiction. Pull your head out of the sand and take a look around. The changes are drastic and only getting worse. Sure, the planets temps have fluctuated but we're no longer in the range of normal. Third, consider this film a history of our planet with the last couple decades being the focal point. That will satisfy all requirements for being a documentary. Last, Mr Gore's background is brought up but it usually leads to a point only takes up maybe 5% of your time. If you prefer, use that time to consider what life will be like for your children if things don't change. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
