I really enjoyed this movie and found the history of this man amazing! I learned a great deal and enjoyed it at the same time. Gruffudd was wonderful as William Wilberforce. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

The movie focuses on the abolitionist (sp?) movement of England. It has a great message and is a great history lesson. Great acting, great story, very emotional! And...oh...did I mention great acting?!? Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

This was both educational and inspirational. We were touched by how one man was able to follow his conscience despite all odds. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreThe kids and I liked this movie much better than "Amistad", Spielberg's lengthy and often confusing treatment of the American slave trade. Both are "important" films that I think everyone--especially kids--should see; however, I also thought the pace was often plodding. I kept wishing that the film would get to the point (and the climax, which was the House of Commons' law that ended the British slave trade) faster. I am very glad I finally got to see this film; I heard so much about it. The acting and directing were well done; I believe the writing could have been a little tighter. It's a great movie, showed persistence and determination to end further cruelty to humanity. One of those must see movies even if you can care less about history itself. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreA movie so well-intentioned, and so important in its subject matter, that you almost had to like it. But it could have been better. Some moments were handled in a melodramatic or corny way that diminished their effect, and the role of Wilberforce's sweetheart/wife was so ineptly played that it only served to highlight that the movie has no strong roles for women. But even so, it was moving and inspiring. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
