Read More This is a good film which really hones in on the effects of greed. Truly one of thee most terrifying stories I've ever known and the film delivers that effect successfully. The downside I found with this film is that the amount of 'business' that go on before the real action starts is way too long and not clearly enough connected to the big picture/story. Likely the long lead-up to the 'Russian Roulet' game (the preparation) is more effective to native speakers of the language the film is in. Follow this film up with something positive - or see it during the day when you can go out and do something to jar you back to reality afterwards. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More The movie was slow going at first, but finally drew me in and I got to the point where I had to watch it all. I had not watched the trailers or read anything about the story, so I didn't know what I was in for. I thought the black and white was a good choice instead of color. I rented it on a whim, knowing nothing about it. And I must say that this is the way to do it. Go in with no pre-conceived notions. Which, if you're reading this, you already have an idea.
I was initially bummed out when i saw the DVD cover say it was B&W with subtitles, but wow. I loved it start to finish. It really stirred the nerves. Rent and see for yourself. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I didnt know what to expect from this movie since my roommate rented it but wow! It does start out a little slow but i think its a decent build up for whats about to happen. kind of the way Hostel built it up. The tournament scene was intense. I haven't felt like being in a movie in quite some time. Of course you kinda know how its gonna turn out but still i was on the edge of my seat waiting for the light to turn on. I don't think any of these other reviewers tried to place themselves in the lead characters shoes and if they did they have absolutely no emotion in themselves. hope this is helpful Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More Director: Géla Babluani put his son or brother in leading role. This movie is about drug addicts who are so desperate they will kill for a buck, and a young roofer who blunderingly gets mixed in with them. The beginning is hard to sit through, mostly because of the horrible translation of the subtitling.
