The harsh realities of life on the street merge with the universal themes of youthful pain and exhilaration in director Dito Montiel's telling tale of one boy's struggle to escape the grim fate that awaits his aimless, trouble-minded peers. For most of Montiel's friends, the only means of escaping their bleak surroundings were drugs, prison, or death. In breaking the cycle and making a name for himself as a filmmaker, Montiel showed that there are ways to overcome the urban malaise that consumed the majority of his friends. He couldn't have done it alone, though, and with this film Montiel pays tribute to those he left behind by bringing their story to the screen so that their struggles may give others in similar situations the courage to pursue a more positive, creative means of overcoming their anger. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is one of the best movies I have seen all year. It's intense, and powering. Every minute of the movie had my attention. The acting was 110%.

This was a very realistic slice of life, and incredibly acted by an ensemble group. If you can handle the language and the tough reality of the subject, you will find it impacting! You can almost smell the film in it's location. Great directing and Art directing as well.

Presents how cruel life can be for many people, but there is no solutions or good alternatives to deal with that , he just run away from his own problems. Good actors and good drama.

I must say, I always give movies a chance but this thing was horrible. It was shot in poor quality lighting, the audio on it is also poor. It drug on and on and on. :{ I finally got tired of trying to figure out what they were saying and it just made no sense, it bored me to tears. I would say don't bother with this one. 2 thumbs down, big time!

SOLID MOVIE. THE REVERSE STORYLINE IS A BIT CONFUSING IN THE BEGINNING, BUT ONCE YOU CATCH ON, THIS MOVIE HOOKS YOU. DITO MONTIEL (THE WRITER AND DIRECTOR) NARRARATES THE MOVIE AND IS THE MAIN CHARACTER (PLAYED BY ROBERT DOWNEY JR) WHO CONNECTS WITH MOST OF TODAYS DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY VIEWERS, INCLUDING MYSELF. HE DOES IT IN A WAY THAT IS UNASHAMED AND REFRESHING. YOU WANT TO AIR OUT YOUR PROBLEMS AND IMPACT PEOPLE IN A POSITIVE WAY? ASK DITO....BRAVO!!! WAY TO BE REAL. IF YOU DO'NT MIND REMENISCING "70'S EASTCOAST STYLE", GET IN AND RIDE. I DID NOT QUITE GET THE TITLE AND ITS' CONNECTION TO THE MOVIE BUT, THIS MOVIE IS DEFINATELY WORTH WATCING. D.V.

Robert Downey Jr. is a delightful surprise in this blatantly realistic flik concerning growing up inner city and the sacrifices one makes reaching his dreams. Flic is for anyone feeling trapped, and alone . Dito Montiel as a writer and director is an artist to watch over the years. He include small details that bring volume to each character.Strong and courageous steam of thought enhances impact. recomernded viewling, excellent study in the area of sociology in much of youths now. Good to Great! Audio issues.

I don't care what anyone says, this movie is the definition of a masterpiece. It was made with an eclectic sense of life and self, and you have to respect that. Shia LaBouf did an excellent job, and so did that fine Channing Tatum. The bathroom scene was so emotional too. Amazing movie.

This movie is not for someone who needs the fast-paced entertainment of mainstream hyped-up films. It requires you to think, stay the course, and appreciate the writer/director's message. I thought it was an excellent first film for a director, and the acting was well executed.

Any one of the actors in this film would be proud to list it on their resume. Absolutely suberb acting. It is true this movie is a bit slow at first. But, all great movies are carefully crafted to open up layers gradually revealing the truth and the message. I would watch this film again and again. What a wonderful cast!!! The directions is real and masterful. The film is a visual feast even though it is set in a tacky burrow of New York of the 70's. Great selections of background misic clips too.

Dito's own story - Robert Downey Jr does (his real life friend from back then) well in playing Dito. Amazing job. Chazz Palminteri as Ditto's father again was just amazing. Great peformances in a small story with a large message. I hope there is more to come from Dito.
