I thought it was an excellent first film for a director, and the acting was well executed. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It is true this movie is a bit slow at first. But, all great movies are carefully crafted to open up layers gradually revealing the truth and the message. I would watch this film again and again. What a wonderful cast!!! The directions is real and masterful. The film is a visual feast even though it is set in a tacky burrow of New York of the 70's. Great selections of background misic clips too. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Not my story despite growing up in Queens (40 years earlier!) but what a story it is. Dito is the one who gets away, but his deep confusion and grief is not that he escaped the depicted life in all its terribleness, but that he left. He left every one and every thing. What that means to be the leaver, the abandoner, the escapee. Downey is incredible. Understated, generous to his fellow actors letting their screen time shine as brightly as they could. Cast is flawless. Never expected this to be so moving and so haunting. Absolutely adored it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
