But the real reason to see this film is Amy Adams, who is spot on in both her portrayal of an animated ditz and in her evolution into a real person. Yeah, there's some kid-focused schmaltz, and the ending is stupid, but there are some truly golden moments in this film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The songs are catchy and somehow feel simultaneously modern and classic Disney fare.

But it is very modern and up to date in that it ties in the fiarytale land with the real world of New York City. Another interesting contrast is the way in which true love is discovered. I don't want to give away the story, but you will be surprised how this comes out and it is very entertaining. Good movie, I will buy it! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The cast was great. Amy Adams was perfect as the princess and Patrick Dempsey proves why he is "McDreamy." Susan Sarandon makes the most of her role as the evil queen and James Marsden is great as the clueless prince. The special features and "making of" the movie were interesting. Kids and adults of all ages will like it. I had to convince my 12 year old daughter to watch it, (thought it was too juvenile,) and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Susan Sarandon was a great villain. Unfortunaly, Patrick Dempsey was a bit flat and I am starting to realize he can't play a vast range of emotions. He does Emo and whiny really well though and stiff. I am hoping when I see Freedom Writers he shows me that he can act. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
