We were not in the "correct" group to get one. They were never advertised even in California. We were lucky enough to "lease" an electric Club Car golf cart so the auto makers could fulfill a quota of producing green vehicles, and they leased to primarily gated golf communities. Unfortunately, our cart was not allowed on our golf courses being considered a street vehicle. When the lease was up we had the option to purchase the cart (not a car to be driven on the main streets) and they removed parts so that it would not exceed 25 mph. We want these types of EV1 cars because we live in the country 30 minutes from any gas station. If I could afford to put my name on the waiting list for the Tesla, I would, but I don't need an expensive sports car. I hate being held hostage by OPEC. The Prius still requires gasoline. Big business/brother dictates what we want. This movie opened my eyes and raised my blood pressure.

I was absolutely shocked at the information provided by this movie. An excellent portrait of Corporate greed, State & Federal Government collusion & the just plain ignorance of the general public at one of the most important issues that will ever face us: US Transportation and Polution. However, creating this reality will be the challenge. With recent layoffs at the big 3 auto companies and reduced sales of pickups and SUVs the current direction is more fuel efficiency. The movie contrasts this perspective and why its going that way. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The movie deceptively twisted statistics to make points, very off putting. They blatantly lied to make points and did things like claim cars from 1985 were more fuel efficient than cars in 2005, while showing a graph for CAFE Mandates, not actual fuel consumption. They claimed Sec. 179 Depreciation Laws were ways for Gov. to give $100K tax breaks to people wanting the biggest SUV's. That's idiotic; the law was designed to help businesses like mine buy a press brake, a Bobtail delivery truck, or new software. They made gov. seem malicious to this end, and it was downright deceptive.
If you can see through the pathetic spin used with statistics to make their points, then it's informative & educational about the regulatory agencies that caused this downfall, everyone's intentions, the technology, and more. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It is still an inspiring look at how Big Auto and Big Oil have corrupted our country and have us by the balls. Its funny how GM sold this tech to Texxaco, a company that would loose money if the technology became widly available. Its worth a view just to see the GM rep say "we wont just crush them and put them in some land fill" then seeing all the cars crushed on a flatbed trailer. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Could this movie be any less credible? What's funny is these people are those who insist a woman has a right to abort her baby but they actually appear to be shedding tears over the demolition of their electric cars! Doesn't GM have the right to abort their EV program? Maybe they thought it'd be too profitable & good for the environment??
About 30 minutes into it I couldn't stop laughing. It seemed like an infommercial for the EV1. They even had a mock funeral. It must be nice to be able to sit around & mourn the loss of a car. I think I'd rather be at the beach. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
