Initially with this cast I figured I couldn't go wrong! Within about 20 minutes I was sound asleep. Frank Sinatra as a Spanish Captain or something like that. I really didn't stick around long enough to get the full story but this is one I would have rather missed. It had all the makings of a epic but couldn't keep my interest.

Typical 1950's attempts at one epic after another. I had a hard time wrapping my mind around Frank Sinatra's Mexican accent, and Sophia Loren, while obviously beautiful (did they ever use "plain" women in film then), stood around poutingly with her hands on her hips one to many times as it was easy to observe. It was fairly simple to see how the story was going to end & while attempting to soar to epic proporations with huge amounts of extras and sweeping camera moves & big names -- it never quite leaves the ground.
