Read More I would expect nothing but the best from Joan Plowright, and she certainly delivers a wonderful performance in this well written, touching, heartwarming, and charming film. A new fresh face, and wonderful actor, Rupert Friend is a perfect choice for her unexpected and unique friend / adopted grandson. The fact that he is REALLY great looking is certainly a bonus, but the man can certainly hold his own in the company of Joan Plowright. Anyone under the age of 40 might not find it as interesting as those of us who have experienced much of life's disappointments and surprises. Those who enjoy fims with substance, great performances, and tender emotion will appreciate this endeavor. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Joan Plowright was wonderful. I wish I could adopt her as my grandmother. I can not imagine anyone not liking this movie. I only wish there were more movies like this one. I had to rent it in the middle of the week because it is very hard to rent. Don't miss it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

(definitely NOT a movie critic), I adored this movie. No Hollywood thrills (a plus), this film was a brief look into Mrs. Palfrey's life. The other characters added interest and I'm still thinking about it days later. Well worth the watch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Joan Plowright and Maggie Smith in the latter. The film has everything... charm, humor and pathos
richly delivered. Every nuance of Ms plowright conveys precisely what the actress intends and no
more..her co-star, Mr Friend delivers a delightful and humorous peformance which complements
hers without anything left over. No wonder Joan and Sir Lawrence made such a wonderful team
as husband and wife..at times I felt she was talking to him in her role as Mrs Palfrey. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The life struggles we all go through at various stages of our lives. What we can learn from one another by sharing & reaching out. Endearing and memorable. Joan Plowright was a thing to behold, and Rupert Friend gives an outstanding performance himself. Sweet but not sickeningly so. Sad but not morbidly so. Realistic but not harshly so. I loved it.
