The first half of the movie was good, then the plot seemed to go nowhere dreadfully slowly, lot of unbelievable silly twists that ruined what could have been a good movie. Good acting by Jackman and Bale though. My wife says even though she loves watching Hugh Jackman movies, his character in this movie left her cold. The writer didn't allow the audience to sympathize with or care about either character, and if you can't decide who the villian or good guy is, then it leaves you with a puzzled look on your face, wondering why we just spent 3 hours of our life watching this movie.

This version of the Prestige is NOT the movie that I saw when it was running in theatres. .This version is structured and added to as if it were made for children to understand! This is an abomination! I loved this film, and only rented it because I wanted to see it again. But this is a butchery of the film.

A great movie, full of complex twists and turns. Bale is particularly good. Nolan knows how to use his simmering, almost angry undertones. Equally good is Hugh Jackman, who comes across almost foppishly at times, only to allow the burning determination to show through. The movie must be watched closely to catch all the feints and slights of hand, and the inclusion of David Bowie as Tesla was a cool surprise. Prestige has dual meanings - Great title for a story that runs on dual themes, eminence and deceit, and the sacrifices for both.
