We see into the gritty existence of magicians at the turn of the 20th century, and it's probably similar to magicians' lives today. Good acting by Bales & Jackman, though I couldn't figure out why Jackman would have an American accent living in London. The plot was terrific. I've never seen one like it, which is refreshing since it seems Hollywood just remakes the same movies over & over. I figured out the trick about 2/3 of the way thru, but it didn't ruin it for me. And watching the DVD a 2nd time makes you see all of the clues sprinkled through the entire movie. A terrific show, though I wouldn't recommend it for kids.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More Very interesting, but also a bit confusing with the very fast paced back and forth action. I realize that his DVD almost has to be seen again to pick up all the things that you missed since things went so fast -- and because of so many twists and turns. It's definitely worth the watch, and I have a feeling after I see it again my rating for it will increase. I loved every minute of it. Although, I will admit that I had to watch it twice to fully understand it. I still have unanswered questions, but loved it anyway. I have never seen a movie like this. Christian Bale is so handsome and Hugh JAckman is not so bad either. I cannot believe that Tesla was David Bowie. Michael Caine was great too. I highly recommend this movie.
