Long on violence and short on story. Sometimes you just want to sit and mindlessly watch a movie on the couch, and eat popcorn. As a woman who likes the action movies, it was a ride. The story is simple-Viking see Indian...kill Indian. Indian see Viking...kill Viking. The dialog is minimal, one sorta sex scene and a pretty good kiss. It had a storyline which most action movies don't. The cinematography was very good and the battle scenes were incredible. One review said to leave you thinking cap at home, but this movie didn't require any deep thinking. The Vikings were real and more brutal than most people know and history doesn't really give you much information about the life of the true vikings. It was interesting to see the story that was created. I believe this movie is worth seeing because it is different from all the other action films out there. I thought maybe it would be decent enough to sit through, I was wrong. I can't really pinpoint what it was exactly, but it was definitely missing something. I think when it started and the indians spoke perfect english, that was pretty much it. At least have an accent, right? Anyway, it drug on and on, I thought I was just tired. The action was good, I'll give it that, but it's so dark most of the time, I really couldn't tell what was going on. I was really expecting this movie (from the trailers and reading about it) to be really entertaining. I absolutely loved 300, and generally can find SOMETHING redeeming about any movie. I guess the only thing redeeming about this movie was the beautiful cinematography. The plot was boring and predictable. The action sequences were dull and un-original. The acting was subpar.
