Read More The movie is based on a LEGEND [like 300], which means that what you see is the view of one set of people's -the Native Americans in Newfoundland area- own oral-tradition story of an occurrence that took place 1000 years ago! This is not an historical accurate piece but utilizes its evidence to bring a raw action-packed, little drama, darkened atmosphere [duly created with movies hues] vision of that story. The Vikings are of the OLD perspective-ruthless, turbulent, animalistic-, versus the distinction of Nativesâ more spiritual and reverent side. The actors [eg Urban & Bloodgoodâs chemistry] did a good job and stuck to their characters [though I think that Ghost should have been blonde and blue âeyed for more of a physical impact]; the cinematography was beautiful, showing a world that was scenic but brutal like the world these people encountered. The story was intriguing & engaging. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I love action movies, but even then was just too ridiculous. Every single character that appears you know exactly when and how he is gonna die because the movie just goes with tons of cliches. Also, the shooting location (Vancouver) is about as completely opposite as you can get from the east coast. The east coast is FLAT! There are NOT huge cliffs and canyons like that seen in the movie. Almost everything about this movie is just wrong. The sled chase is just laughable. Gimme a break. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The writing was awful. The dialogue seemed empty at times. It is a good mindless slaughter fest, but other then that nothing to write home about. If there is nothing else to add to the queue then go for it! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

If you like Dungeons and Dragons or play a lot of World of Warcraft/Everquest, you'll probably actually like the movie. The CGI blood in the battle seens was a little too "red".
Make sure to have plenty of beer or drugs (whatever is your preference) before sitting down to this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More If you like brutal and completely mindless revenge movies, you might enjoy this. Don't get me wrong, I like a good, brutal revenge movie, but I like to use my brain, too. I didn't expect historical accuracy, but the blatant innacuracies were actually somewhat offensive. The only hint of truth is the caption at the beginning that vikings landed in N. America (specifically what is now Newfoundland, Canada) 600 years before Columbus "discovered" America, but they were explorers who established trade routes, not barbaric and bloodthirsty marauders. And the natives are portrayed as the stereotypical superstitious (and slightly dimwitted) "savages". If you're looking for a good action movie, you would be better off with 300, Apocalypto, Braveheart, Shooter, or The Last of the Mohicans. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
