Read More It's worth renting if you like warrior action movies like 300 or Conan. The movie has a really awesome sense of style and environment, and the hero characters are decent. Read More very beautiful scenes and even if there were some gory parts they were well masked by black and white to subdue the blood color. full of action and awesome costumes on the Vikings.by the way whoever said it was silly to have the Indians speak English and the Vikings in their native tongue should try watching Apocalypto which was entirely in Native American.it was the Vikings who were the intruders hence the subtitles.beautifully filmed in picturesque Canada. 1) The natives spoke in perfect English while the invaders spoke in their native tongue; this removed any sense of authenticity
2) The amount of blood spilled with each strike of a weapon or fist is too unbelievable; a movie like Sin City has exaggerated gore as part of its environment and it works, but not here
3) Chase scenes with dramatic scenery changes (through snow, high mountains, plains with no snow, forests, etc) felt very contrived and inconsistent
4) The lead character uses a sword so effectively as to kill the highly skilled invaders; interestingly, his tribe had little or no idea about these weapons when it was clear that he must have been training
5) Lead character can ride the horses the invaders brought?
6) All the horses and dogs the invaders brought on so few boats.

As others have written this is an excellent choice for a black and white movie.
The great Icelandic/Arabian stallions were also impressive.

Read More Bloody, gory, slow, boring my HD TV suffered from the lack of color in this black and grey DVD movie. OK there was red blood in it but other than that it was all shades of grey. A few cool swordfights and the eye falling on the ground was probably the best part in this way tooo long cheap movie. The entire plot of the movie can be summed up in one sentence: "Kill all the Viking invaders". Leave your thinking caps and kids at home. this movie is all blood and guts lack of action and has no story line. It seriously needs some twists, turns and suspense. I'm not gonna buy the dvd. 300(I loved it) and Apocalypto(hated that one) were much better. I didn't like Apocalypto either, but that is another review. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
