I felt the same way when I saw Manhunter, the first installment of the series. I didn't think this movie explained how Hannibal Lecter became the way he is. Also, why Lithuania?? It makes no sense for the character of Hannibal to come from Lithuania with an English accent. Whatever. I just hope this is the last attempt of the Hannibal series. Read More I really enjoyed this movie although I wished they had done the movie on the killings that were mentioned in the silence of the lambs. This movie was very gripping and leaves you in suspense of how Hannibal is going to exact revenge on the next killer. My favorite is still the silence of the lambs. Hopefully they do end up doing a movie with the mentioned murders in silence of the lambs but that would have to be a role for Anthony Hopkins. I was fairly disappointed, myself. Like Giselle M., I had SO looked forward to this movie as I am a big fan of Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Seemed more of a war drama at the beginning and kind of fizzled out from there. Good acting, but we never watched Hannibal actually grown into the respected doctor that he became before Silence of the Lambs. Very slow story line. I guess I would recommend to fans of Silence of the Lambs simply to have seen the prequel and know where everything is coming from, but don't expect too much!:) Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? It was boring from the beginning. The brutality just so unshocking and never really made its point. No emotion was evoked on my part for any character. The basis of Hannibal just seemed so farfetched that I just couldn't believe it. Silence of the Lambs was truly superb and this one was just a severe letdown; not worth anyone's time really.
