Read More I watched this movie with small expectations based on reviews of others. First, there is an interesting and at times funny story of a man who goes from obsessive rigid and controlled to impulsive and spontaneous. The movie concludes with a nice message about relationships. I enjoyed the movie. The characters were likeable and interesting. Worth seeing for sure. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I liked the well polished production and the complementary music. This is one of Ryan Reynolds best. He is convincing in this role and doesn't play it too lightly. The story is original without being implausible. The premise isn't gimicky. The story builds slowly, twists, and turns without losing its graceful pace. There is one climactic scene where Reynolds spits out a great, funny line providing a classically punctuated peak in the story. Some aspects of the story are common film themes. But, the fine delivery transcends cliche. It has a "classic" feel and includes some interesting messages about time management and priorities. Not ground-breaking, but a good movie. The overall story of a chain of unplanned events was actually very interesting and thought provoking. What WOULD I do if I discovered I was actually sterile from birth and that I wasn't the biological father of my child? We thought the reactions of the characters were pretty realistic on that count. Also, we thought the overall setup worked well for us. To be honest, I thought it was trite that Ryan was an "efficiency expert" because it seems like I've seen that kind of occupation too many times in Hollywood films, and some scenes were kind of over the top. However, overall we thought it was a good effort and my wife especially enjoyed it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
