Something happens to someone and then hilarity ensues... Not quite accurate. This movie is a Comedy/Drama. Sometimes a tear jerker even. If you are a bunch of guys and rent this movie..be advised. Having said that, I completely reccomend this film. It was well acted, well directed, and the characters were completely believable. I laughed, and I had tears, and WOW. Rent it with your sweetheart, and she may love you forever. P.S. I think the low ratings are a by product of the poor advertising. It is misleading. THIS IS NOT A TRUE AND TRUE COMEDY! 10 out of 10 people found this review helpful This one took me by total surprise. I thought this was going to be a funny, light hearted comedy. Not even close. Yes- there were a lot of funny events throughout this story. However, it was not a comedy in my eyes. This one is on the same lines as Click. It pulls on the heart strings and has a great story. Ryan Reynolds is the real deal and shows it with this movie. I was very impressed to say the least.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More Once again poor marketing leads a movie to receive poor marks because people expect something different then what they are getting. This is a slice of life movie not a comedy. The story of what can happen to anyone in the course of our lives. As in life the movie cascades through the emotional scale from funny to heartfelt to sobering etc. The story didnt make me say WOW but it was good. Ryan Reynolds is good in whatever I see him in and I hope he gets better roles by showing his range here. Watch it with an open mind and don't expect to laugh every second. Read More Deb_C is right on the money..This movie is hit or miss and MORE MISS..It has very little drama or comedic scenes in it..If a person reads the synopsis for this movie and thinks this movie has a stupid premise, thats because it does. He's ten minutes late for a business fuction and it spurs a chain reaction of some stupid events that you couldnt care less ...This is NOT a four or five star movie..Three stars MABE if your drunk. At the begining a guy is about to have cold feet and leave a girl at the altar, he is stopped by Ryan Reynold's charicter (the girl's father) and told the story of how twisted his marriage has been and how painful it's been, then at the end he's done telling the kid the story and then the kid is like "ok, time to get married!" I'm sorry but that was more unrealistic than a lot of the far fetched crap hollywood pulls on us.
Another thing, in case the director reads this... man, when the guys were out on the boat and the ladies were looking through the binoculars into the dark, I was wanting a mysterious shotgun misfire sooooo bad. It would have been awesome to wonder what it hit. COME ON! That would have been SO easy!
I think this could have been a much better movie, but it did have some pretty good parts. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
