Read More Congrats on perpetuating an already troubling proponderance of anorexia and materialism in America. This was the exact message that womeon of today need to hear. Namely, a size 6 is overweight, abandoning and hurting your friends, family, and loved ones is ok if you give a half axxed apology in the end, and that spending ungodly amounts of money on fashion can make your life much better. Oh, and does anyone actually believe that Aquaman would really put up with the junk that he deals with in this movie? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I enjoyed the twist and turn at the end - the movie definitely kept my attention for the entire show. I found that while I sided with the heroine during the entire trip, I also cheered her decision at the end.
I haven't always been a Meryl Streep fan, but this one was absolutely great. Pics of NY were great too! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Meryl is in my opinion, the best female actress for the last 20 years. The subtle humor she did was so good, that the first time I saw the movie (I watched it 4 times) I didn't notice the humor. At first I thought it was a serious movie. To give you my personel background, I'm a typical male aged 52 who generally doesn't like chic flicks. So I was so impressed that I decided to watch it again(which I never see a movie more than once). It got better every time I watched. I wish there were more movies like this that are semi-realistic and funny without supid slapstick humor. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Meryl Streep played the role of fashion-diva perfectly. Anne Hathway also played the role of a struggling new college grad just trying to get her break. The rest of the cast could have been stronger. I loved the makeup, costumes, everything in the movie. If you haven't read the book, I would do so, it is better than the movie, if that's possible! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Anyone who has labored through eccentric tough bosses will get a kick out of this.
Ann Hathaway is definitely a star on the rise, she was great as the nebish secretary who finds her groove and blossoms.
Well done and one of the best we saw this summer. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More While THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is bound to be a bigger hit than David Frankel's earlier movie "Miami Rhapsody," it's not nearly as accomplished. It does boast la Streep, giving yet another terrific performance: Subtle as can be, she asks neither for approval nor sympathy. Hathaway's OK and Emily Blunt ("My Summer of Love, "Gideon's Daughter") is even better; among the males, Tucci comes off best, though Grenier and Baker do as well as the so-so dialog allows. While Frankel's direction is serviceable, the screenplay (he didnt adapt it) is barely that--starting with the premise that a girl as smart and touted as the Hathaway character would go on a job interview without first learning something about the job. Things dont get much better--right through to the dumb "cell phone in the fountain" moment. But it's worth seeing for Miss Meryl, and afterwards you can entertain yourself by imagining what a team like Mike Nichols and Elaine May ("Primary Colors") might have accomplished here.
