Read More As a Bob Dylan fan who lived through his era, I found this move a disapointing smorgasboard of ideas, thoughts and assorted facts. Why would anyone waste this much talent and production expense to end up with a product that wanders through the life of this icon is such a haphazard manner? I kept waiting for something meaningful to leap from the screen but it never happened. I could have gotten more from listening to my old records of early Dlyan and The Band. I wouldn't watch this again if you paid me. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It doesn't really have a point and is sometimes hard to decipher, but it is worth watching. Makes you think, just like his music. I love Dylan and the actors were quite remarkable. I'm not sure I learned anything from it or even if that was the point, but I had to see it. It is also a bit melancholy but as Dylan grows older he writes more about love and death than love and life. Give it a whirl. Heath Ledger and Kate Blanchett are amazing. When it ended I decided to watch the "Bonus Material" to see if it would enlighten me. Well, what a difference that made. I should have watched it first and then I would not have sat through 135 minutes of confusion. I would not recommend this movie unless you are a hardcore Dylan fan. Read More I thought that the idea behind the film, having six different people play Dylan, each representing a phase in his life, was brilliant. However, the film seemed to bounce around from period to period without any cohesiveness and it just became a dull, confusing film without a point. If the only point the film maker was going towards is that Dylan is an enigmatic figure, therefore I will make an enigmatic film about him, he succeeded. But all in all, the film is a major flop that could have been a lot better. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This movie was by far the worst I have seen in a long time. It had no plot, no story line, and was completely disjointed. People who describe it as "genius" are fooling themselves. I realize that "true art" is in the eyes of the beholder. But this movie is true trash. No one should waste their time watching it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Dylan deserves a better account of his life than this post-modernish-gobblty-glook of a flick that doesn't have the courage to simply state its meaning to the audience. What does the film what us to know/think/consider/believe after we've seen it? Not a clue... Tell me if you can figure it out.
Also, try as they may to not acknowlege it, Dylan's conversion to Christianity in the late 70's made a profound impact on his life that continues in his music to this day--he met King Jesus, and found peace and healing. This film gives a nod to Dylan's finding salvation, but then uncomfortably moves back to the creepy, spaced-out stuff. Rent "The Last Waltz." You'll have a better time.
