This is an insult to Dylan. This is just another PRETENTIOUS attempt from Hollywood to try to make a movie about something that was happening before anyone involved was even born. This is truly a waste of time to watch. The closest it came to Dylan was the Jude Quinn character and that was a stretch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Perhaps I needed more Bob Dylan education before watching this movie, but I thought it was much too disjointed and eventually turned it off halfway through. Maybe if I'd persevered I would have made it to three stars, but my initial impression was awful. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Multiple casting for a single part is always a dicey choice but in this case, it fits perfectly for a man named Zimmerman who goes by Dylan. If you hang with the movie long enough for the amazing Cate Blanchett to show up, you'll start to see the big picture of what the director and Dylan have been up to all along. Read More akin to high brow modern art, this movie is so abstract only the insecure could elicit a positive comment, in fear of not being hip and not wanting to shy away from anything to do with an icon. Good acting from Cate Blanchett does not salvage an otherwise waste of time and money; incredibly difficult to watch the whole 2 hours of dribble... Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? People claiming they didn't get it or what a waste of time... it's a shame really. This film is not "Walk The Line", people. And there was a plot. You just happened to have missed it while in zombie land going, "duh" to yourself. Inner struggle, a collapsing marriage, conversion of faith, the pitfalls of fame and fortune, etc. And the music was great. After all, Dylan himself did approve this bio. Sure, maybe it could be said that one might get more from it if they watched the documentaries on Dylan, but I didn't think this film was unwatchable. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? If you want explosions and slick one-liners, do yourself a favor and rent a Jerry Bruckheimer film. If you like to think and be challenged by a film, this is a good one for you. But, be forewarned, you need to go with the flow in some parts, and try not to over analyze. Just keep an open mind. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
