This one was far better. More irreverent humor (thank you script writers and Sasha Baron Cohen as King Julien), and homages to at least 5 other movies or movie types. Even the dance number near the end spoofs other dance movies like "Flashdance" by showing shots of just the feet (a real dancer) and then shots of the upper body and face (the actor) and then quick shots of the actor trying to dance - an editing style they surely didn't need to do in an animated movie. Alec Baldwin is right on as the pathetic heavy, and Bernie Mac did such a good job that I knew it was him yet doubted it at the same time. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I think that the first movie fell ... Read MoreI HATED the first movie. I hated every single thing about the first movie. Now, having said that, let me say this, I LOVED THIS MOVIE! This was a MUCH better sequal! I think that the first movie fell flat with humor and that annoying King Julian. This was the perfect movie for me because everything I hated from the original, is improved on in this movie. I had REALLY low expectations for this movie but I came out of the theatre shocked! I REALLY enjoyed this film! The animation is beautiful and the story is perfect! I really enjoyed the storytelling in this movie. Also, the soundtrack was also pretty cool. If you are that other 1 in a million person out there that actually hated the first film, you will enjoy this film VERY VERY VERY much! Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
