Read More This movie had much more potential but unfortunatly fell short due to it's overly telling trailer and predictable storyline. While the film does have you jumping from your seat a few times, the real chilling parts have already ALL been shown on the preview/ trailer so you already know when the best eerie scenes are coming. Add to that a predictable storyline that just finishes up really fast like a bad first date and you've got the Messengers. It's basically this..*** !!Don't read this part unless you want the spoiler: Family moves to old farm house haunted by previous family who was murdered there. Drifter passes by and takes up work on far with family. Drifter turns out to be the father of previous family who murdered them all and in the end tries to murder new family but the house takes him out. The end. Like I said, predictable... Sort of Birds meets Amityville. I prefer those with bumps and shreaks to scare you over slash and gash movies. HOWEVER the script itself just was ridiculous. The ending might have been scary but made no sence at all. I'd explain but then I'd be giving a spoiler which I try not to do. The performances were great - the visuals were grand - the script - a mess. Still in all it gave me a few honest scares. Read More The Pang brothers really don't impress me with their version of horror - it all seems pretty much 'already done.' If you've seen The Ring or any other asian influenced horror flick, you've pretty much seen the effects that are included in this movie. It wasn't a bad movie - it was just a bit predictable and a tad hokey. I really didn't like the ending at all, and after watching the interviews with cast and crew, I think the original concept of a ***SPOILER*** scarecrow instead of a human being the bad guy would have been much scarier. It sure is entertaining though!!! I does have it's "scarey" qualities (younger people might get scared) it's filled with twists and turns, plus if you want to see the next Jodie Foster (Kristen Stewart) and want to be blissfully entertained for an hour and a half then watch this movie! The acting was ok and the plot was good but it just fell short. It did have some good moments, but was not a great movie. It is worth watching for any horror fan out there as they just don't make great horror movies anymore. It was not the best horror movie I have ever seen, but it wasn't the worst. It was just ok.
