This film is beautifully shot, hauntingly scored, impeccably written, lovingly directed, and brilliantly acted.
Brad Pitt's best performance ever, and Casey Affleck matches him blow for blow. "Jesse James/Robert Ford" is the second best film of 2007, behind only the best movie of the past decade, "There Will Be Blood."
The film is long, true, but it's a DVD, people. Pause the dang thing and make a sandwich or visit the loo if you have to, but there really isn't a shot that should have been edited out for time.

Read More160 minutes of boring. Although, to be fair, it was a fascinating portrayal and about as close to historically accurate as Hollywood gets. The acting is great. I don't like most of today's movies with the constant camera movement and hyperactive pace. But, after 2 hours, I did wonder where this movie was going. You know what is going to happen by the title, of course. But it takes a long time to get there and you are left wondering where it might go afterward. In the end, an excellent film if you are prepared for 160 minutes of drama, some cold blooded violence and an interesting story. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

It offers a perspective on what could have been going on... and indeed, must have at some point, in Jesse James thoughts and those closely around him. The viewer feels the constant stress and need to be on guard of both Jesse James and his crew from those seeking their arrest and from one another. Brad Pitt is excellent in revealing the unrelenting burdensome weight on J. James shoulders and Casey Affleck is equal to his bothering thoughts of the actions he contemplates as James' assasin. Great cinemetography. That was probably the best part of this slow moving & long movie. If it had been edited down, it would have been easier to stay awake. Overall, not bad though. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I liked this movie, I was not expecting a shoot'em western.
The title of the movie is ironic considering most of Jesse James' victims were unarmed and shot in the back. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
