I always make it a point to finish all movies I rent -- the only way to finish this one is to fast forward through half of it. I just kept telling myself, "It'll be over soon and you can go to bed" -- I had to fast forward the last 45 minutes to make it happen. Boring, Boring, Boring. And what a waste of Mary Louise Parker -- she said no more than 2 lines the whole movie! (maybe more, but I probably fast forwarded through it).

I stopped this movie after about an hour but quit paying attention after 30 minutes. It was so slow and really boring. It paints Robert Ford as a stalker and very needy for Jesse's attention all crammed in an artistic film. It just wasn't very interesting and even with all of the star quality, it just didn't move well. It was like the director was the kid from American Beauty all grown up and just trying to tape a bag! Another thing this movie taught me; life in the 1880's was extremely boring and the people made face gestures other than speak to one another.

I LOVED this film. Casey Affleck is simply brillant. I literally had to rewind some of his scenes and watch them again. I thought all of the supporting actors brought a lot to their parts and the film. If you want a 90 min. cowboy movie then look elsewhere. The running time didnt bother me at all. I might be strange - but I actually wanted to know what had been cut from the even longer original edit. There were some characters that didn't even get screen time. If you love the story, the way it is told and the acting then the length isn't going to bother you.
