Read MoreThis movie reminded me of "no country for old men" and "apocolypse now". this is NOT a movie for children. it IS beautifully filmed, scripted and acted. a cold and dark movie. a true character study, revealing that both jesse james and robert ford were very conflicted individuals. very real in it's gritty portrayal of the times. this is probably close to how people really lived. it takes a lot of film (time) to get this impression across to the viewer--i felt i was there. the movie places you in both jesse james's and robert ford's shoes. who can you trust and who can't you trust? can you pull the trigger and assassinate an american icon? It is long and slow as everybody can tell, but if you just get into that pace and relax; whoooaa what a movie!! I` ve rarely seen tension in a movie like this before, almost without any words and sound effects. Unbelievable caracterization, you can totally see how people thought, lived and acted around the 1880`s. The movie is not really about Jessie`s life, it is more about Ford`s and the circumstances that led to his decision to cowardly kill Jessie. The ending is really great too, it`s absolutely worth to watch. If you can`t sit on your butt for 160 minutes and just WATCH a movie, than don`t bother, you won`t like it.
