This may have been the best movie I saw in 2007. It is a deep character study of 2 men and how there lives met. When I first say this film, I thought how stupid of telling the entire story in the title, but after watching the film, I think it was genius. I would highly highly recommend this film. I think those that pan this flim because they miss the action, they are highly missing the point. This is deep pyschological look at 2 men as well as society responses to each. Casey Affleck deserved his nomination for best supporting actor and in my mind clearly should have won the award. I think some people expecting an action movie will not like it, but to me this is going right on my must see list.

i liked the way the story was told as the movie progressed. it helped to understand what was happening. i love old fashioned movies. it reminds me of the good old days, when people were honest and your neighbor was your friend. not like todays day and age, where you always have to watch your back.

The length of the title foretells how lonnnnnnnng and slooooooow this movie is. I’m not sure how historically accurate the story is but watching Jesse James slowly (and I mean sloooooowly) slide into a paranoid fear of the shadows was the only interesting part.

Obviously, the director's "cut" didn't happen here. They could have taken this thing down by at least 45 mins and it still would have been just OK.

Great acting, probably a wonderful book, but honestly 2 hours of this movie could have been edited and we would not have missed a thing, or noticed. It is another version of the Jesse James tale, this time an in-depth character study, much too in-depth, another problem was the narrator, he sounded like the Dr. Seuss guy, I was waiting for him to say Jesse rode to whoville and green eggs and ham etc etc

This movie is so slow and not worth the time to watch, especially at 160 minutes. Very disappointing!
