There is so much to digest in this gem that it never leaves you with a definite conclusion or bias about the relationship of Muslims to Western society. The movie takes a volatile subject and handles it with deft, intelligent, hands that allows the viewer to sympathize with everyone. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Very well acted and smoothly directed tale that begins with the rendition and "black site" torture of a Pakistani man who was the brother of a would-be terrorist. I was surprised at how quickly the movie went, mostly avoiding the all-too-common stereotypes and cliches. Not a movie the neo-cons will enjoy much, I'll wager (see "Michael's" two reviews, same guy, twice).
How ironic that the person who wrote that the movie was stupid cant even spell ounce.

Read More A whopping good movie--as timely as terror itself--THE WAR WITHIN works both as a quiet thriller that steadily intensifies & as a near-perfect picture of Muslim America at odds with itself, for good reason. As directed & co-written by Joseph Castello, the movie comes across as scarily, sadly believable in every aspect. Lead actor/co-writer Ayad Akhtar is excellent under both hats and the rest of the cast, comprised of "knowns" & equally fine unknowns delivers splendidly. This film--with a budget as low as its importance is high--ought to be seen by every American and then discussed--until this country is able to grow up, change direction & pay for its sins. The French movie "L'Esquive," which won its country's best film award last year, was scarily prescient about the recent riots in France. You cant help but wonder what soon-to-be-reality "The War Within" foretells. Dear leader Bush, with his cringe-inducing stupidity, has already told them, "Bring it on!" Heaven help us. And them. The terrorists get their say too, but not without rebuttal.

I found it a bit odd that the only Americans portrayed in the film were hookers, strippers and an obnoxious boss. Talk about stereotyping! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
