The Black Book has suspense, drama, action, greed, deception and displays the horrors of Nazism throughout. This is a deep, intellectual movie that doesn't have your traditional good guys vs. the bad guys. Instead, it delves deeper to show us how absolute power, greed, and hatred brings out the worst in everyone. This movie is a hidden gem and will keep your eyes glued to the screen. We had planned to watch half of it and go to bed and catch the rest of it the next evening. (The movie is 2 hours and 26 minutes long, but the pace of the film made it seem much shorter.) But that was not to be - we just had to watch it all the way through in one sitting! You'll need to use subtitles as much of it is in German, but this drama based on a true story is so riveting you won't even notice they're there. This action-packed movie (complete with lots of plot twists) is about the Dutch underground in German-occupied Holland in 1944-45. This is a "DON'T MISS" movie!

But this film caught me totally offguard several times. I liked that it portrayed some of the deception that was going on in Holland during WWII, which is usually ignored. I highly reccommend! Excellent movie. The story moved nicely. Acting was superb.

The English sub titles through 80% of the movie made it "work" to watch the movie. A lot more nudity than I thought was necessary. However, it is a movie with enough twists in it to keep you going. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI really loked forward to viewing this film based upon member reviews. I found it to be a hyperactive and farcical daptation of Hogan's Heroes in the Netherlands. The plot was not only absurd but also progressively more annoying. The only redeeming value was the beauty of the leading lady.
