It's got great costumes, locations, events, ... Read More Impressively produced work. The story has many classic, dramatic WWII elements in one film. The acting is the best. You don't notice anyone is acting. It's got great costumes, locations, events, nostalgia, plot twists, romance, betrayals, war criminals... This is one juicy film really done up with grand style and nothing done half way. With all the intricate dramatic twists, the director thoroughly ties all the pieces together. Caution: There is really nothing in this film for non-adults. Definitely not for children. Adults with a taste for war movies with romance and espionage will love this. I really loved this movie. I thought it was well acted, well written and the scenes were beautiful. It was long, but I never got bored (some movies are too long). I'm a Jewish woman so this story really touch me. Though it's hard for me to believe that a German commander would act the way he does, see the ending. Good twist on the trader to the resistance movement.

Read More An excellent movie...except for the English subtitles which left a lot to be desired. During critical times in the story it would have been nice to be able to catch more of the dialog. Instead, you had to rely on the visuals..scenes, actors' body language, etc. which were great. Read More when you're watching a spy mystery with this much drama, it would greatly help if there were the sub-titles that were supposed to be on the screen. At one point, after 7-8 minutes of dialog, there was only 4 words of english translation which were: "They were to follow-----".
Even with my limited knowledge of languages, I could tell that what little translation was given was sometimes wrong, but usually not there at all. Whoever was responsible for the Sub-Titles is incompetent and ruined the movie for us. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
