I remember seeing the reviews for Evan Almighty before it came out and I remember thinking that the concept looked just incredibly dumb, but after having just seen it, I really, really liked it! I liked it so much better than Bruce Almighty, just for the simple fact that it's not sacreligious and really was almost too clean and "on point" for Hollywood that it totally surprised me, especially some of the things Freeman said. This is a great movie, I highly recommend it! A

Good clean family movie. Worth watching. Some funny parts and a good moral about families sticking together.

Expected much worse for a sequel and a mainstream movie based on the Old Testament. Was actually a decent family movie and even had some faith inspiring moments.

Fun and totally charming family movie. ARK "ACTS of RANDOM KINDNESS" Yeahhh a lil corny - but I enjoyed it anyway...I'M a little corny myself. Morgan Freeman as God was very comforting! : -)

Much more lighthearted and kid-friendly than Bruce Almighty, this film actually reminded me more of The Santa Clause than the aforementioned prequel. This is something the whole family can enjoy together. However, the plot is completely non-sensical. Why did God send animals from all over the world to be saved from a DC-area flood?

Modern Day Version of Noah & the Ark. Idealistic politician "Evan Baxter" played by Steve Carell (like Noah) is FABULOUS FAMILY FUN. Evan can't believe the "Message" from Morgan Freeman as God to build the Ark in the middle of their Washington DC suburb. Morgan Freeman's lines as God are like pearls and better than in Bruce Almighty. The scenes of Evan Baxter's children helping him to build the Ark are side splitting slapstick while they employ very ingenious non power but "animal power" building technics. The scenes involving the arrival of the animals two by two are used for great comedy...new twist on the "chase scene"?! Wait till you see the ARK ride the FLOOD...very wild and clever.

Evan Almighty joins the long line of movie franchises that have big numbers for the original flick so they throw together an awful script and feed the unsuspecting public total trash. I like Steve Carell, but he is not funny in this movie. There isn't a single laugh in this junk. It's all a bunch of saccharine sweet melodrama junk passed off as safe family fare. You know there's a big problem when the funniest part of your movie happens during the credits. I cannot express how much I hated this movie, one of the worst films ever made.

It don't hold a candle to Bruce Almighty. I actually fell asleep so this is just half a review. What I saw was somewhat childish, not very funny for an adult. I would not recommend it.
