A handful of couples discuss their romantic and erotic tribulations on a sunny afternoon in this romantic comedy drama. It's a beautiful day in London, and a number of people head out to Hampstead Heath Park to enjoy the weather, though not every couple on hand is as comfortable as the weather might suggest. Julia (Gina McKee) and Gerry (Hugh Bonneville) are having a picnic as part of a blind date, but they don't seem to be enjoying one another's company. Billy (Ewan McGregor) and Brian (Douglas Hodge) are a gay couple at a crossroads -- Billy wants to settle down and adopt a child, but Brian doesn't believe this will stop his partner's chronic infidelity. Iris (Eileen Atkins) and Eddie (Benjamin Whitrow) were an item many years ago, but aren't sure what to make of one another when they meet by chance in the park. Sara (Catherine Tate) and Pete (Adrian Lester) discover how much they care for one another just as they're on the verge of divorce. Jamie (Andrew Lincoln) finds he has some explaining to do when his wife Molly (Holly Aird) catches him ogling a pretty young woman (Eglantine Rembauville) who is inadvertently exposing her underwear. Ludo (Nick Sidi) and Anna (Sophie Okonedo) are a couple whose romance doesn't seem fated to live out the day. And Noel (Tom Hardy) is a lecherous sort who is looking for a woman as interested in sex as he is. Scenes of a Sexual Nature was the first feature film from director Edward Blum; the picture was shot on a shoestring budget, with the actors being paid union scale in exchange for a share of the film's profits. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

There are none in this movie ... scenes of a sexual nature, that is. The word "erotic" is the last adjective that should be used to describe it. This is a fun, sweet, absorbing, nicely conceived and delightfully acted movie that you can watch with your grandparents. The only thing that might be off-putting to your grandmother is a close-mouthed kiss between homosexual characters. Oh, and if your grandfather doesn't like the "f" word, then there are some of those, too. But if there is anything "sexual" about this movie, then it is in the purely metaphorical sense of relationships between men and women. Also, there is a very good "Making of" special feature on the DVD. If you like movies such as "Notting Hill," "Love Actually," or "Four Weddings and Funeral," then you will love "Scenes of a Sexual Nature."

Charming movie. If you enjoy people watching you will enjoy this movie. It's amazing how many different realities can go on in one place. The park itself has a sexual nature, if you think about it.

Sweet and charming. Takes place over one afternoon in a London Park and showcases various romantic relationships - divorcing, breaking up, thinking about marriage and kids, reconnecting lovers and love for sale.

A worthwhile film. The use of the word "Scenes" in the title is really accurate. The film is flat and hollow, like a series of paintings. At the end you feel unsatisfied. But after you've thought about it for a few hours or days, you start to make different connections that really cause you to think about humans. I would say put it at the end of your queue and only rent when you're running out of other movies.

I was looking for a nice light romantic comedy, but there really was no comedy. Ewan McGregor was well worth watching, but that still not enough for me to bother finishing it.

I do not know how this movie got funding. It was 92 minutes and it felt twice that long. It was deadly, deadly dull. I guess it was just supposed to show couples discussing sex (or relationships), but their conversations were boring and lacked substance -- no character development whatsoever. Maybe it is a British thing, but I didn't get it. I wanted to see it because of Ewan McGregor, but he's hardly in it!! The movie details says it's funny - um, I didn't laugh once! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you want to lose 92 mins. you'll never get back.

To me, this movie is not worth watching at all. I rented it because of Ewan McGregor but he appears for 3 minutes only. The plot is scattered, the acting is poor. Nothing good about it, RENT IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
