Read More Of course, Hollywood does not make movies which are 100% aligned with history. However, what I have read of the history of Sparta, this movie was not far from the truth and a powerful portrayal of 300 plus men who fought bravely so long ago. It did have a lot of violence, nudity, and some sex, so it is meant for adults. The good part is you'll learn about history by watching a touching, sad story. I hated Titanic, but loved this movie. Read More The battle scenes are poorly done when compared to the opening scene in Gladiator or any of the large scale battles in Lord of the Rings. The main problem is the battles ask the viewer to suspend disbelief way too much. Very disappointing since the whole movie centers around a historical battle. Read More I love how its a good mix of action, historically correct sequences (for the most part), and a love story on top of it. I loved the plot, the actors, the action, and pretty much everything about the movie. I saw the old version "300 Spartans" and that one put me to sleep. This one appeals more to every audience and has you on the edge of your seat. I left the theater wanting to watch it again and again, so in no way does the DVD disappoint me. Read More Special effects and blood and gore are the staple of the film. I was more interested in the historical perspective and dynamic between Xeres (msp.) and the Spartans. This was barely explored, but one gets the sense of dedication and loyalty to accept pain and violence as a way of life. Both civilizations are extremely brutal and are shown as having no conscious. I would not recommend this one.
If there is anything good to say about the movie it is that even with the frigging terrorists and fanatics today-- we seem to have progressed as a species pretty substantially. Also, for a vehicle to create a violent video game-- the film has sparked some crap that can keep mindless people occupied. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
