Lots of good laughs, particularly from Ken Marino (who plays Lozo) who is a father of four and verbally abusive, but it really comes across as light-hearted hilarity. Paul Rudd continues to show that he is one of the most under-rated and diverse actors in Hollywood. This movie is set in 1976 and they directors/cinematographers nailed down every detail to give this movie the right feel. It's a movie about friendships, hardships, sex and daddy issues and it works to perfection. After seeing this movie, my wife and I ran out and told everyone who would listen to RENT THIS MOVIE! The fact that this movie pretty much skipped the theatres sets low expectations, but I have to say it was a very good movie. Ebert and Roeper gave it two big thumbs up and raved about it, so I gave it a try. They were right. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

It's not an action movie. The point isn't to reach out and grab you within minutes. Take my word that this is an above average movie. Not too heavy, but not mindless either. You can listen to my input -- or you could listen to the guy who cannot spell "since". Oh, and he claimed to turn it off after 30 minutes, but said he watched the whole thing 2 sentences later. I rented it because it features a few of my favorite actors but I didn't find any of them likeable or interesting here. The only good thing was the extra feature about the real Baymen. Then maybe you'll enjoy this. A gritty and humorous portrait of 4 men who are struggling as clam diggers. This is one of those movies that is genuine and sincere. If you're looking into this because you loved Paul Rudd and Ken Marino in one their more comedic ventures, this may not be what you want. Diggers finds the perfect balance between the trials of life and the laughter that follows. The cast is superb and hearing Big Star used throughout the movie sealed it for me. If I had to sit and watch the whole thing more than once..... well I just think I would need a gun. Not to shoot myself but the TV. So to end the pain. That is how bad this one sucks.
