The actress is lovely to look at and the camera spent way too many minutes doing just that. Backstory is interesting but main storyline is very lacking. Dialogue stilted, predictable. Visually, the film is captivating. Otherwise, a total flop. I gave it 3 stars for the pictures and bit of exposure to herbal healing. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I hadn't heard of it till I found it on this website. My husband wouldn't watch it though, said it was too much of a chick movie. I thought it was entertaining, and that it is a unique subject. Read More After viewing this well acted and well crafted plot starring Dylan McDermottt and Aishwarya Rai, I was inspired to search out other movies featuring Rai. She conveys a wonderful portrait of a demur, strong, enchanting , spiritual woman who is confident in her craft yet naiive about the outside world in big city America. Dylan McDermot plays her perfect counterpoint in a worldly wise sort who opens to his own spirituality and the possibility of a romance that might just blossom into something deeper. I loved this movie! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More The sense and colors of the east meets the neuroses of the West in an enchanting tale of the spice lady. Like the medicine women of my American Indian heritage, the spice women of East Indian heritage is both alluring and comforting to know that women still maintain this intuitive power. High recommended. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More My wife and I both agreed; it was a heartwarming, charming fantasy .................with a slow moment. For me, I've added Ms. Rai to my short list of "most classically beautiful women of all time", right alongside Sophia Loren. That alone kept me in this film for the long haul. And its charm held my interest through those slow spots. For my wife, the frustrated love story that ultimately resolves itself in a very unique way, was all she needed to redeem whatever shortcomings the film might have had. I'm glad we rented it, and I've recommended it to others as a surprise find on the rental shelf. For us, the true test of a movie's worth is how we feel after the closing credits. We both felt good. There's no way you'll ever figure out the whole story by reading the synopsis on the website or from the DVD jacket. It's that unique a story. Go ahead, rent it. You'll not be sorry. Waste of time. Plus I hated how often she talked to the spices, they were like her friend. Got really really annoying. Anyways, as a woman you probably would like this movie, but as a guy, not worth watching. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More For those may have never seen a "Bollywood" movie this is actually a GREAT introduction to Aishwarya Rai and the beauty and magic of the Indian culture. The story can, at times, be a bit predicable but only in that you catch up with the plot. You may think you know where it's going but it will twist on you and start to go in a new direction - you may think you THEN know where it's going to go... only to have it twist again. It's a GREAT movie (no musical numbers) and I didn't really see this as a "Comedy" more than just an amazing film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
