Read More I didn't think this movie was bad as some of the reviews suggested. The two lead characters, played by Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore, weren't very likeable, but in a way, that made me like the characters! Yes, the president is a parody of Bush, so that will probably offend a lot of people. The movie is a mishmash of different stories until they all meet at the American Dreamz competition. To parody something you might want to know a little bit about the subject first. I know they were trying to parody American Idol, but in order to be funny it might need to resemble the original at least slightly.
And how old is the joke that the President and Americans are stupid. WE GET IT, we're sooooo stoooopid. Paul Weitz made 2 good movies and this must have been his free pass from Hollywood, his artistic freedom piece.
