No, this movie is not a comedy. Yes, there is adultry in this movie (which is integral to the development of the plot and the main character) . But these attributes do not make it a bad movie. If you prefer comedies and are so offended the portayal of adultry then DON"T watch this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

She wins everyone over with those thin little lips and innocent face. The whole pie thing is overdone though, and it reminds me of other chick movies where the food and feelings bit is emphasized. The supporting characters are good, and the 2 other waitress characters provide most of the comedy. The tone shifts abruptly at times when the abusing husband lashes out, and it's a little unsettling if you're looking for laughs. My favorite character is the grouchy old man played superbly by Andy Griffith. It has a predictable but endearing ending that works thanks to Russell. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I"m so sorry that talent such as Adrienne Shelly's ended prematurely with her murder. She was a fine actress, writer and director of this little indie movie. All the actors in this film were terriffic, from Keri Russell, to Jeremy Sisto (who always is the one I love to hate), Andy Griffith, Adrienne Shelly, and of course, the wonderful Cheryl Hines. My boyfriend is a film major (i swear he's seen just about every movie ever made) and i've turned him on to indy films. He really liked this movie, said that that you think is going to happend doesn't, in almost every situation. I just want to say please see this film and judge for yourself. I think you'll be happily surprised. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Keri Russell plays her role pitch perfect, and only the hardest heart would hate Nathan Fillion (Firefly fans?) for playing a cheating husband. The movie deals with a lot of stereotypes, but since all of them are portrayed sincerely, without cynicism, it works. I enjoyed it a lot. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It's hard to think of even one redeeming quality for the entire worthless film. It's one thing to be feminist, another thing to be anti-male. The lead character's (so forgettable I forgot her name already) husband is a complete parody of a human being who seems such a hodgepodge of negative male traits - this contrived assortment falls apart immediately upon inspection. He's moody and domineering; controlling and unconfident; abusive and childish; whiney and aggressive. There are men who are intemperate, but they do not look like this. And as far as the doctor she goes to upon learning that she is unexpectedly pregnant, he is incompetent and an adulterer (like her). Sorry, being confident and empowered as a woman is not about being anti-male in a specious and vacuous way. Its not a plot by men that women carry the babies and have periods and the like, but judging by this movie alone, you'd be led to believe it is. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
