Read More The director of this movie modeled the action and stunts after the chinese acrobat stunts that Jackie Chan became well known for. In addition he creates unique elements in the story line and the fight scenes inspired by Thai culture. In this movie, the actors are actually professional Thai Olympic athelets who incorporate thier gymnastic skills into the fight scenes. They didn't have the money to use C.G. like many of the american action movies we are used to seeing here. This was just good old fashioned toughness. Also it is a very good example of how Thai people hold family, patriotism & freedom in very high regard as an underlying message of the movie. I would recommend seeing any movie from Baa-Ram-Ewe(Dragon Dynasty)if you think this movie was good. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

However, most seem far too ridiculous or too conviniently set up. I sat there watching it once the fighting action got started and couldn't help but notice how much like a gymnastics stadium this Thai village looked like. It came complete with balance beam, hight bar, performance mat, and even uneven parallel bars! It really feels more like a gymnastic performance rather than an action movie. I won't even get into the fact that a watch tower with a high power machine gunner gets taken out by a guy that kicks a soccer ball about 350 yards to boink the shooter in the head. It's just too unrealistic and far too coreographed to be anything other than a cheap action movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More The film does have a well worn plot and after the first 10 minutes the movie drags for about 25 minutes before things get going again. Some of acting is bad - it reminded me of low rate Bollywood stuff. In parts it reminded me of a really bad film called Gymkata but when it was good you thought you were watching Jackie Chan (JC), The martial arts are average but the stunts are great. The semi-truck stunts are vey good. In many ways this film is both a homage to the Thai people and the HK movie industry. The Protector, The Killer and most JC film is better but if you are a martial arts film buff (like me) it is worth a rent. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More After reading this movie was "from the creators of Ong Bak and The Protector" I expected a decent plot and great action scenes. The plot is very simplistic as others have said. The acting is not bad andI enjoyed the participation of the entire village in the movie. The martial arts were done well and creatively.
