The movie started off slower than a slug across a rock in the summer. The beginning plot-line appeared to hold some depth but the story of the 7 swords was skipped completely, offering no compensation for the lack thereof. The execution of story and plot-line was incredibly poor creating a confusion surrounding who the characters were, where they came from, and what their motivation was. The plot continued to disappoint as it droned on, proving to be nothing more than a basic "Good guys are chased by the bad guys" type movie. The acting was horrifying, especially for hong kong cinema. Actions were overstressed making it feel as if the movie belonged in the silent film era. The cinematography was, to be generous, poor and held little pleasure for the viewer. If you are browsing for a friday night movie and randomly find this film do not take it home. If you are bored out of your mind and want something mind numbing to entertain yourself then follow my previous advice and do not rent it.

Very poorly made. The action scenes were like watching an old spaghetti western. Turned it off after 20 minutes.

I watched about a half hour and was bored with the storyline. I am very into martial arts and the action was alright but the dialogue dragged out.

I'm not fond of watching martial arts movies, but I liked this one. I thought the fighting was a little more believable than other martial arts movies. However, some of the moves were sped up to make it look more impressive. I don't really care for that type of editing. I would give it a 3 star. I was interested enough to follow along, and not get bored.

the fighting scenes are what kept me in tuned to the movie...not to mention Donnie Yen! however, they could've minimized the whole love scenes and mushy scenes as I thought some of them were unnecessary, but the plot was not that hard to follow. overall i really like the movie, and would highly recommend it to a modern day (new school) martial-arts fan.

Not bad at all. I believe it was a co-production with a Korean studio which is why there is a Korean actress and relevant storyline. The reviewers that found the movie confusing I feel sorry for. If you did not like the movie due to "lack of action," then you must have been wanting a B-movie popcorn flick and so you should research the movie before you add it to your queue. http://www.kfccinema.com has lots of martial arts/asian movie reviews. Also search on Amazon and Rotten Tomatoes and read reviews on there too.
