The genre of street racing is a main stay for adolescent men. As such, this film will appeal more to men than to women. With that said, Mak & Lau did a good job of bringing action and some character development to this film. With an All-Star Hong Kong cast, Initial D is firing on all cylinders. Good action and drama. Worth renting. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

In addition, all of the characters were likable, Anthony Wong and Jay Chou being examples. It was also nice to see Edison Chen as a formidable, respectable character. The drifting and soundtrack were well done. The camera shots were incredible. And despite the numerous nighttime races, the scenes were remarkably well lit. And while they weren't heavily used, the special effects were also professionally done. The negatives were the uninspired acting, how the relationship between Natsuki and Takumi ended and what appeared to be voice dubbing for the Japanese characters. When choosing the Cantonese language, the Dolby Digital-EX and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 audio options provide excellent sound and make good use of surround sound. It's also only the second movie I've seen with a 6.1 audio option. While Disc 2 has several extras, and most are subtitled, it's hardly worth adding to your queue. Definitely recommended. Read More If you're a fan of the anime then this translation shouldn't give you too much to complain about. Amazingly enough they packed in most of the significant battles of season one and two into this movie. The most humorous part in my opinion is how they packed two characters into one for Takumi's best friend, Itsuki, and for NighKids Nakasoto (Sp?). While bucking teh trend of overly using CG it breathes a refreshing revival to actual "stunt" driving. As far as the storyline itself if you've read the manga or watched the anime you know how it ends. If you're new to this catalog this for your mindless nonthought provoking homorous action-genre. You won't get caught up in character developemnt or strong plot. It's just fun to watch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I'm surprised that the rest of you were able to watch the whole movie. I fell asleep on this movie 3 times and it even motivated me at one point to go do laundry b/c it was so boring. The way that it was filmed was annoying too. That freeze frame thing that they did all throughout the movie was terrible. I never finished watching the last 10 minutes b/c I figured that there were more useful things (like picking lent out of the dryer filter) that I could do with my time than watch this crap. I'm so mad at all of you for writing good reviews for this crap. The Fast and the Furious (1, 2, & 3) was on a totally different level of entertainment than this was.
