How many movies can be described by those two words? Enjoy it on two different levels, maybe 3. 1) It's about a real Texas congressman that really did fund the secret war to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan. It also helps to explain OUR situation there. Things that were done right. Things that were done wrong. 2) But listen closely and it's hilarious. The dialogue crackles. Verbal repartees abound. Tom, Julia and Philip are at the top of their game. You're reminded that Hank started off in comedy. 3) All that and the girls are gorgeous too. "Charlie's Angels", as they're called keep the visual interesting too. Julia doesn't hurt. And Amy Adams, (I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of hers) makes a great Assistant. All in all...Superb movie.

What a great movie! As always, Philip Seymour Hoffman played a character different from those he has played in the past and nailed it. He is such a good actor. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were superb, and the story was riveting. The extras on the DVD were very interesting in that there were interviews with the real Charlie Wilson and others.

This was a fun movie. Charlie Wilson seemed like a guy who just lucked out. A boozer, a womanizer and a tad stupid he appeared to be the quintisential Texan. But he knew how to pull strings make the right women feel good and get money from reluctant people. It's part farce and makes you ask, "Is this how our government works?" Yes, I think it does. Julia Roberts can do no wrong. It's a crazy film-watch it.

Enjoyed the movie very much especially since it was a true story. The additional features were also very interesting. I thought the stars were very good and the story very interesting. It did make me wonder about what the Russians might think after seeing this movie.
