Fast paced, funny and well written, acted and directed. Simply a good movie and a remarkable true story.

Some of the lines in the movie are classic, to live on for a long time. Very funny at times and deadly serious at other times. Is this how we got into the mess in Afganistan? You bet!

Very good movie and the acting was very good. But lets not forget Ronald Regan, Charlie didn't do it all on his own. This movie shows why we can't just walk out of Iraq, we helped rid Afghanistan of the Russians and then just walked away which led to extremist taking over the country and turning it into a basket case. Wars are not pretty or fun especially to people like us who hold life so dear but unfortunately sometimes its the only way to go, you need a victory and going half way does no one any good and prolongs the suffering for all.

Kudos to Tom Hanks and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. As always wonderful performances that make you care about their characters. The pace drags a bit & the obsession with "shooting down the helicopters" wasn't handled properly, but having watched the documentary extras on the real life heroes they portray (which I strongly recommend doing so yourself) I have grown to appreciate the movie much more. Who doesn't love a great true story? Fascinating.

Killing Soviets and stopping the Red Army was serious business. Why did the director dumb down almost all the Americans? This is a goofy version of history. Hanks and Roberts are superstars but they both blew it in this flick. Hoffman did a credible job as a CIA case officer.

My husband's cousin was in this movie and I was glad to finally see it but it was so boring I kept falling asleep. Even Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts couldn't make this movie worth the two hours!

Sounded like my kind of movie...love Hanks and Roberts! Tried to watch this four times thus far... and *yawwwnnnnnn* Not only the worst Hanks movie ever, but worst movie I've seen since ... shoot... can't even think of one! I think I'd rather watch Barney with my 5 y/o!
