This movie has many themes, the most important one is about learning and striving to become an honest human being. Sometimes the comedy can be a bit intrusive but it doesn't fall flat, and succeeds best when it supports the main themes. As a Yank I struggled with the broader Yorkshire accents, and I did wonder whether adolescent boys of 17 and 18 are that sophisticated (American boys certainly aren't so I lament my lack of exposure). Nonetheless, the acting was uniformly good and in some cases excellent, and I will enjoy seeing this again.

I did not like this movie and would not recommend it to anyone. I suffered through the entire thing hoping that it would get better. I like the motorcycle riding professor until they introduced the fact that he had issues with fondeling the boys he offered rides home. I felt like through the whole movie they were pushing the whole gay male thing too much. I was even a little confused because it seemed like even some of the straight boys were attracted to one of their professors. It made you think that all british boys have homosexual tendancies. I just didn't like the movie.

I enjoyed the movie because it's been awhile since I saw a movie that forced me to actually listen and try to keep up with the fast dialog. I'm a sci-fi guy so really enjoy movies that are really out there. This movie is obvious to point out its message: 1) Being gay is not a phase, and gay love can be painful (emotionally -- geez).. just like straight love. 2) Old men fondling school boys is just another Wednesday. 3) Even "<unt-struck" boys have an urge to be $ucked-off by teachers. And finally 4) Literature and history is fun and captivating.

I liked the movie but felt that the movie focused more on the sub plot about the teacher groping the boys which drew away from a pretty good story. There were some great actors in it.

I fell asleep about 20 minutes in and my husband said he watched the whole thing waiting for it to get good and that never happened. He said it was a waste a time.

I only watched half of it and took it back. Not worth the time at all!!!

This movie had no point. Just kids going to school and a lot of weird things going on. Made no sense.

This was a very deep movie if your brain is large enough to take it all in. There are plots within plots and the acting was superb! Definitely a thinking person's movie!

Really terrible movie. I was shocked to see the movie seemed to condone/glorify an older man's obsession with and MOLESTATION of his underage students (not to mention the other teacher's open flirtations with his students). I can't believe someone financed the making of this movie. For some reason other reviewers are describing the groping of students as something romantic and acceptable. ??? So, other than the eye-openers I described, the movie was a big snoozefest. I wish I had read the reviews before I rented it.

I tried, really tried to watch this flick but was never able to grasp the plot like others have. I guess I was looking for some clever plot or a charismatic character to stand out, but neither happened. I know that many caught on to the fact that the story had a rather strong homosexual bent, which did not bother me alot, but overall the story just never caught on to me. I guess you need to be British to understand the humor in the movie but I just could not dig it.
