Read More I loved that this movie had the feel of a play (from which it was adapted, with much of the original cast I think). It was like a theater production transferred to film, and I found that very unique.
I also loved that the themes of the film were rather controversial (though I see from other reviewers that the homo-erotic undertones were not well received by all)- it showed that the characters were flawed and complex.
I rented this movie mainly for the promise of its focus on History (history buff here), and I really enjoyed the treatment of history- that it's okay to say something outrageous- that writing/talking about history isn't all about getting the right answer, but having an opinion and being able to back that opinion up with evidence.
This movie will make you think, and possibly offend if you are easily offended. But those characteristics are the strengths of the film. I loved everything about it! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

But I'd like this movie a lot more without the overarching gay theme. It seemed like we were in an alternate universe where boys being attracted to girls was out of the ordinary. The performance by Frances de la Tour was fantastic as the lone female voice.
My wife slept through this, and I can't say I blame her. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

when the students rode with him! The students were being taught to go outside the box in education and learn beyond just
the words! To express themselves in words and music, and interaction with each other. The goal was to make them more than just students that have learned, from a very creative professor (wife of gay professor). Their (professors) relationship
had been non-sexual, but have come to accept that fact! They combined to educate these students into being ready to go
on to do something with their lives. Yes, this could have been done without the homosexual side and could have been even
better. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More What's up with the liberal homosexual minority to think that the majority of us are so interested in watching their homo fantasy's. Again they package another innocent appearing DVD with "Dead Poet Society" looking concepts, which is why I rented it. Just like Brokeback Mountain, appearing like a "normal" love story, between a man and woman, on the cover but only to be a homosexual fantasy. Why can't the films be like the out spoken proud homo's out there and just come out and say what you are, a homo erotic film. Oh yeah, that wouldn't be smart would it, cause suckers like me and the rest of the country wouldn't rent it and accidentally buy this crap, cause we'd know the truth.
