This movie is rediculous; it tries to lead you into this great story about these kids trying to get into Oxford, but then it throws a curve ball and turns into a movie about how the old fat teacher wants to sodomize his students, and how they humorously deal with it, and then the new teacher brought in to prepare them for the boys' college interviews, also falls in love with one of the boys, and this boy who has a girlfriend all of a sudden now wants to get involved with the new teacher sexually? Everyone turns gay. Its insane. The movie would have been great, lot's of intellectual stimulation-reminded me of Dead Poet's Society a bit, but if you couldnt even fathom watching Broke Back Mountain, then this is definitely not for you! Oh, and it was slow, some of us fell asleep. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I watched half and then turned it off. Not sure what planet these boys are from. I don't think I've ever seen anybody act so pompous. Big thumbs down. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More Character development seemed non existent because every one of the students was a drone. No individuals amongst them displaying their strengths and weaknesses - i mean seriously, who excels at everything? I realise they passed their A-Levels and have been put together in one classroom, i'm just saying that in the real world people are better at some subjects than others, and that didn't come across.
Whilst watching this i felt nothing for any of the students because i didn't know anything about them, what were their dreams and/or ambitions? were they confused about life and didn't know what they wanted? Maybe all of this came out later in the film but by that point i'd turned it off coz i didn't care.
Rent 'This is England' it's a far superior movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This movie follows that sort of plot, only with gay undertones (or not so undertoned) and certainly not as memorable. Still, it was worth a rental...just not something I need to see twice. If so how, in what way, by what evidence? Other than their ability to spontaneously break into classical poetry recitals or 2 minute segments of plays, none of the characters seem to be very gifted at all. I had pretty good hopes for the movie but just noticed that it got worse and worse as it progressed. The characters weren't realistic, the dialog artificial, the premise of the story was not supported, and the character development was a sudden change as if a light switch was turned on, and not a carefully developed maturation of those involved
Better to spend your time watching Good Will Hunting or Dead Poets Society for the 20th time. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

If you're up for something different and have an open mind..give this flick a try. I'm not saying its oscar worthy by any means but I found it entertaining. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Even if I was able to discect what was being said I can honestly say it wouldn't have changed my opinon. It was silly to the point of being unbelievable and stupid! A waste of time!
